From an astrological viewpoint, the Year 2011 is ushering in a period of revolutionary or even dramatic changes our relationships.
According to a rather obscure astrological text called the Galendarjum Oeconomicum Practicum Perpetuum, the Year 2011 is the "Year of Venus".
The Year 2009 was the "Year of Mars" and 2010 was the "Year of the Sun", and now it is Venus's turn to take over.
The past two years have been about dramatic changes in political and economic structures, especially because Pluto has entered Capricorn for the first time since the late 18th Century — the age of political revolutions. In 2011, with the focus on the love planet Venus, Pluto's restructuring powers shift to interpersonal relationships.
It is highly ironic that the German alchemist and astrologer Dr. Mauritius Knauer devised his perpetual calendar based on planetary rulerships in the late 18th Century. His Galendarjum Oeconomicum Practicum Perpetuum was published just as the planet Pluto was entering the Sign of Capricorn.
Pluto in Capricorn is about revolutionizing age-old political and economic structures and replacing them with completely new and different structures.
Just look at the changes which occurred in the late 18th Century — the French Revolution and the American Revolution, for starters.
Now, in 2011, Pluto again is marching through Capricorn, dismantling old worn-out structures and restructuring the world. Pluto will remain in Capricorn until the year 2024 — by which time many cherished and time-honored political and economic institutions will have been swept aside forever.
"The Year of Venus" opens and closes with Venus aligned with Pluto in Capricorn. It means that 2011 will offer a bit of respite from fear and doubt about changing political and economic structures, while offering a dozen benchmark opportunities to reshuffle our interpersonal relationships. This is the year when Venus helps us to strengthen and enliven our relationships in order to provide us with the foundation of loving support which we will need in the turbulent years to come.
